Frequently asked questions
Take the quiz on the homepage. It asks two questions (what kind of campaigns you need and whether you have a CRM) and gives you a recommendation in 15 seconds. If you want more detail, read the comparison articles in the Research section.
You can switch. Most tools make it easy to export your contacts as a CSV and import them into a new platform. Your emails and automations will need to be rebuilt, but the tools I recommend have templates and migration guides to make it faster. Expect the switch to take a few hours, not days.
Yes. Your contact list exports as a CSV from any platform. Your email templates and automations don't transfer automatically, but you can recreate them in the new tool. Most businesses switch tools every 2-3 years as their needs change. It's normal.
No. The tools I recommend are built for marketers, not developers. The interfaces use drag-and-drop builders. You can set up your first automation in 30-45 minutes without writing a single line of code. If you can use Google Docs, you can use these tools.
Email marketing sends campaigns and automations to your list. A CRM tracks individual contacts (where they came from, what they've done, where they are in your sales process). Some tools do both. HubSpot includes a full CRM for free. MailerLite and ActiveCampaign focus on email and don't include a CRM.
About 30 minutes to create an account, authenticate your domain, and send a test email. Another 30-45 minutes to build your first automation. Most people are fully set up and running within a few hours. The setup guides I provide walk you through the first 48 hours step by step.
You upgrade to a paid plan. MailerLite starts at $10/month. HubSpot Starter starts at $20/month. ActiveCampaign starts at $15/month. Pricing scales with your contact count. As your list grows, your costs go up, but so does your revenue (if you're doing it right).
Because these three are the best. I've tested dozens of platforms. Most are overpriced, overcomplicated, or unreliable. MailerLite, ActiveCampaign, and HubSpot consistently rank highest for deliverability, ease of use, and value.
Use the Justify quiz. It generates a ready-to-send email that makes the business case to your decision maker. It includes time savings, lead conversion improvements, cost breakdown, and a clear ask. You can customize it before sending.
The tools I recommend cover 90% of what most businesses need (email campaigns, automation, segmentation, reporting, landing pages). If you have niche requirements (advanced SMS, detailed attribution modeling, complex integrations), reach out and I can point you in the right direction. But for most marketers, these three tools are more than enough.
No. I'm an independent marketing consultant. I earn affiliate commissions when you sign up through my links, but I don't work for MailerLite, ActiveCampaign, or HubSpot. The recommendations are based on a decade of experience choosing and implementing these tools for clients.
